Privacy Policy

MowingMate ("we", "us") provides a lawn quoting tool for Queensland residential properties. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

Account details. Your email address and a password (stored hashed, never in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile details from Google.
Addresses you look up. The property addresses you enter, and the results we return for them.
Your calibration settings. Mower width, pace, hourly rate, margins and similar preferences.
Billing information. Handled by our payment processor. We receive a record that a payment succeeded and the last four digits of the card; we never see or store your full card number.
Technical data. IP address, browser type, pages visited and timestamps, collected in ordinary server logs.

Why we collect it

To create and run your account and produce your estimates.
To bill you, and to apply founding-member pricing correctly.
To keep the service secure, diagnose faults, and prevent abuse.
To email you about your account, billing, and material changes to the service.
To improve accuracy — looking at aggregate patterns in how estimates land.

Property data

Land size, boundaries and slope come from Queensland Government open property data and aerial imagery providers. That information describes land parcels, not people, and we do not attempt to identify property owners or occupants. You are responsible for having a legitimate reason to look up any address you enter.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run MowingMate — hosting, payment processing, email delivery, and property or imagery data providers — and only as far as they need it to do that job. Some of these providers store data overseas. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep account information for as long as your account is open. If you close your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 90 days, except where we must keep records longer — tax and financial records, for instance, are generally kept for seven years.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls on our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but if a data breach ever occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Blocking essential cookies will stop you from staying signed in.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that's wrong, or delete your account and its data. Email hello@mowingmate.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we'll email you and update the date at the top of this page.
